The Benedictine Retreat Centre is a sanctuary for spiritual renewal nestled in the tranquil hills of Makkiyad, Wayanad, Kerala in India. It is run by the monks of St. Joseph’s Benedictine Monastery who draw inspiration from the revered Saints Benedict, Sylvester and Scholastica. Here the faithful embark on an indepth spiritual journey, rooted in Christ and the Gospel message, embodying new faith, hope and love. The Holy Spirit has anointed and chosen this Retreat Centre with deliverance and healing ministry and Eucharistic miracles. One of the main ministries of this Centre is deliverance ministry which is done by the director named Rev. Fr Joy Chembakassery OSB and other priests here.

Benedictine Retreat Centre is a spiritual arena of activity under the aegis of Benedictine Monastery. Its purpose is to uplift the people of God and to promote unity and oneness in them. The Retreat Centre is a beacon of tranquility and reflection, inviting all who enter into a transforming journey of heart. It is actively engaged in the proclamation of the word of God and the celebration of the sacraments. This Center seeks to infuse the daily life of faithful with an awareness of the divine.
Seekers from all denomination and religion from the different parts of India and World come to Makkiyad with hope, a longing for a new beginning and renewed journey of faith. They attend six days retreat at Benedictine Retreat Centre, which offers them the opportunity to rediscover and deepen their spiritual life. Under the guidance and direction of Fr Joy Chembakassery, a team consists of OSB Priests, Nuns of various congregations and Lay spiritual leaders avail themselves for the spiritual needs and renewal of faithful regularly.
Retreat on the Annointation of Holy Eucharist
The mission of Benedictine Retreat Centre is rooted in the Scripture of Isaiah 56:7 “ My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations ”. It is our desire and prayer that all who come to Benedictine Retreat Centre for six days retreat will be filled with the Holy Spirit and witness in love for God and His People. A six day retreat on the Annointation of Holy Eucharist is conducted all through year, starting on Sunday 3.00 pm to Friday 9.00 am. All the retreats are conducted by the director of Retreat Centre Fr Joy Chembakassery OSB and the team consists of Benedictine priests, nuns of various congregations and lay spiritual leaders. Thousands from far and wide come to experience the divine touch of healing and the powerful deliverance ministry during retreat days conducted by them.
The Holy Eucharist and Adoration of Blessed Sacrament are the center of entire ministry. The Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament throughout the day especially during the proclamation of the word of God is more blissful and anointing. During adoration, anointing of the Holy Spirit, inner healing, deliverance and laying the hands on the sick and possessed ones, the downtrodden and the bonded are healed, relieved and delivered from all kinds of bondages. The numerous miracles, healings and great deliverance especially from the abandoned cases of medical science are the greatest testimony of our Centre here till now. The Mighty and Omnipotent God has raised this mount as the abode of Holy Eucharist and Holy Spirit.
